What this fund is

Amundi MSCI Water UCITS ETF Acc is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Amundi, traded under the ticker WATC (ISIN FR0014002CH1). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. At its core it is a focused, thematic fund: it concentrates on the industrials part of the market, so it lives or dies by that one area rather than the economy as a whole. Underneath, it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't. It follows the MSCI ACWI IMI Water Filtered index (passive investing): it tracks the market rather than relying on a manager, keeping running costs down, and its largest holdings include XYLEM INC, AMERICAN WATER WORKS and IDEX CORP.

Spread across roughly 45 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 42%), no one position makes or breaks the fund. By geography it is weighted towards ~65.1% United States, ~10.5% United Kingdom and ~4.2% France. By industry it concentrates most in ~69.8% Industrials and ~28.2% Utilities. A focused fund like this is typically held as a smaller 'satellite' position around a broader core — a way to lean into one theme, not usually a portfolio's only holding. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.6% a year — about €60 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund.

Income such as dividends is automatically reinvested inside the fund (an accumulating share class), so returns compound without you doing anything. It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in France and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in EUR. Its price has swung about 16.8% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2021. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Amundi.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
