What this fund is

iShares S&P 500 Equal Weight UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from iShares, traded under the ticker EWSD (ISIN IE000IKMJDQ6). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It follows the S&P 500 index (passive investing): it tracks the market rather than relying on a manager, keeping running costs down, and its largest holdings include EUR CASH, MODERNA INC and BIO TECHNE CORP. With about 513 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 2.7%), your money is diversified rather than concentrated in a handful of names.

Geographically it leans ~99.7% United States and ~0.3% European Union. By industry it concentrates most in ~16.6% Industrials and ~15.5% Financials. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.15% a year — about €15 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is a distributing share class — dividends are paid to you as cash rather than reinvested, and over the last year it paid out roughly 0.888955% (its trailing yield).

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 10.5% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2025. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from iShares.)

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
