What this fund is

iShares € Govt Bond 0-1yr UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from iShares, traded under the ticker CEMK (ISIN IE000WV38GP5). In a single purchase you get a diversified basket of holdings rather than a stake in just one business. In plain terms it is about very short-term, cash-like instruments, aimed at protecting your money and earning a little interest rather than growing it, spread across its target market. Its largest holdings include FRANCE (REPUBLIC OF) RegS, FRANCE (REPUBLIC OF) RegS and SPAIN (KINGDOM OF). Spread across roughly 40 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 48.5%), no one position makes or breaks the fund.

By geography it is weighted towards ~27.7% Italy, ~17.6% France and ~17.5% Spain. Its heaviest sectors are ~99.7% Government and ~0.3% Other. Funds like this are often used as the steadier, lower-swing part of a portfolio — the ballast that cushions the ups and downs of shares. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.09% a year — about €9 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is an accumulating share class: dividends are rolled straight back in, compounding your returns rather than landing in your account as cash.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in EUR. Its price has swung about 0.6% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2025. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from iShares.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
