What this fund is

iShares MSCI Taiwan UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from iShares, traded under the ticker IDTW (ISIN IE00B0M63623). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. At its core it is a focused, thematic fund: it concentrates on the technology part of the market, so it lives or dies by that one area rather than the economy as a whole. Underneath, it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't. It passively tracks the MSCI Taiwan index — mirroring that market instead of paying a manager to pick winners, which keeps costs low, and its largest holdings include TAIWAN SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING, MEDIATEK INC and DELTA ELECTRONICS INC.

With about 85 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 62.5%), your money is diversified rather than concentrated in a handful of names. Its biggest country exposures are ~99.9% Taiwan, ~0.2% United States and ~0% Ireland. By industry it concentrates most in ~80.5% Technology and ~11.5% Financials. A focused fund like this is typically held as a smaller 'satellite' position around a broader core — a way to lean into one theme, not usually a portfolio's only holding. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.74% a year — about €74 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund.

It is a distributing share class — dividends are paid to you as cash rather than reinvested, and over the last year it paid out roughly 0.75% (its trailing yield). It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 26.2% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2005. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from iShares.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
