What this fund is

Invesco Utilities S&P US Select Sector UCITS ETF Acc is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Invesco, traded under the ticker XLUS (ISIN IE00B3VPKB53). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the S&P® Select Sector Capped 20% Utilities Index index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include NVENT ELECTRIC PLC, CUSTOMERS BANCORP INC and MASTEC INC. Spread across roughly 85 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 48.3%), no one position makes or breaks the fund.

Its biggest country exposures are ~85.9% United States, ~9.3% Ireland and ~0.4% Cayman Islands. Its heaviest sectors are ~26.7% Technology and ~20.9% Industrials. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.14% a year — about €14 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is an accumulating share class: dividends are rolled straight back in, compounding your returns rather than landing in your account as cash.

It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in USD. It launched in 2009. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Invesco.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
