What this fund is

Invesco Consumer Staples S&P US Select Sector UCITS ETF Acc is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Invesco, traded under the ticker XLPS (ISIN IE00B435BG20). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It follows the S&P® Select Sector Capped 20% Consumer Staples Index index (passive investing): it tracks the market rather than relying on a manager, keeping running costs down, and its largest holdings include GILEAD SCIENCES INC, DUKE ENERGY CORP and GUIDEWIRE SOFTWARE INC. It holds around 95 positions (the ten largest ≈ 45.4%), spreading risk so no single holding decides your outcome.

By geography it is weighted towards ~93.4% United States, ~2.4% Sweden and ~2.1% Netherlands. By industry it concentrates most in ~26.5% Health Care and ~25.7% Technology. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.14% a year — about €14 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is an accumulating share class: dividends are rolled straight back in, compounding your returns rather than landing in your account as cash.

It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in USD. It launched in 2009. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Invesco.)

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
