What this fund is

iShares MSCI World EUR Hedged UCITS ETF (Acc) is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from iShares, traded under the ticker IWDE (ISIN IE00B441G979). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread broadly across markets worldwide. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the MSCI World index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include APPLE INC, NVIDIA CORP and MICROSOFT CORP. Spread across roughly 1327 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 25.7%), no one position makes or breaks the fund.

Its biggest country exposures are ~71.6% United States, ~5.8% Japan and ~3.5% United Kingdom. By industry it concentrates most in ~28.9% Technology and ~16.1% Financials. Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.55% a year — about €55 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is an accumulating share class: dividends are rolled straight back in, compounding your returns rather than landing in your account as cash.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors, trades in EUR and is currency-hedged against exchange-rate swings. Its price has swung about 11.8% over the past year, which describes how much its price tends to move rather than whether it is good. It launched in 2010. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from iShares.)

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
