What this fund is

iShares € Corp Bond ex-Financials UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from iShares, traded under the ticker EEXF (ISIN IE00B4L5ZG21). In a single purchase you get a diversified basket of holdings rather than a stake in just one business. In plain terms it is about lending to governments and companies in return for regular interest, which tends to be steadier than shares but grows more slowly, spread across its target market. Its largest holdings include BLK LEAF FUND AGENCY ACC T0 EUR, ANHEUSER-BUSCH INBEV NV MTN RegS and AMAZON.COM INC. Spread across roughly 2510 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 1.5%), no one position makes or breaks the fund.

Geographically it leans ~26.2% United States, ~16.4% Germany and ~16.3% France. Its heaviest sectors are ~23.6% Consumer Staples and ~17% Consumer Discretionary. Funds like this are often used as the steadier, lower-swing part of a portfolio — the ballast that cushions the ups and downs of shares. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.2% a year — about €20 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is paid out to you as cash (a distributing share class), and over the last year it paid out roughly 2.58% (its trailing yield).

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in EUR. Its price has swung about 3.4% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2009. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from iShares.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
