What this fund is

iShares MSCI EM IMI Screened UCITS ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from iShares, traded under the ticker SAEM (ISIN IE00BFNM3P36). In a single purchase you get a diversified basket of holdings rather than a stake in just one business. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It passively tracks the MSCI Emerging Markets IMI index — mirroring that market instead of paying a manager to pick winners, which keeps costs low, and its largest holdings include TAIWAN SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING, SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS LTD and SK HYNIX INC. It holds around 2629 positions (the ten largest ≈ 35.8%), spreading risk so no single holding decides your outcome.

Its biggest country exposures are ~28.7% Taiwan, ~21.8% Korea (South) and ~17.3% China. Its heaviest sectors are ~43.3% Technology and ~18% Financials. Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.18% a year — about €18 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is automatically reinvested inside the fund (an accumulating share class), so returns compound without you doing anything.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 44.5% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2018. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from iShares.)

What your money could grow into

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
