What this fund is

UBS MSCI ACWI SF UCITS ETF hEUR acc is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from UBS, traded under the ticker ACWIE (ISIN IE00BYM11K57). In a single purchase you get a diversified basket of holdings rather than a stake in just one business. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread broadly across markets worldwide. It passively tracks the MSCI ACWI SF index — mirroring that market instead of paying a manager to pick winners, which keeps costs low.

Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.21% a year — about €21 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is automatically reinvested inside the fund (an accumulating share class), so returns compound without you doing anything. It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Ireland and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in EUR.

Its price has swung about 12.5% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2015. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from UBS.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
