Xtrackers MSCI Pacific Ex Japan UCITS ETF 1C

Xtrackers · LU0322252338

Xtrackers MSCI Pacific Ex Japan UCITS ETF 1C is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Xtrackers, traded under the ticker XPXJ (ISIN LU0322252338). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It passively tracks the MSCI Pacific ex Japan Index index — mirroring that market instead of paying a manager to pick winners, which keeps costs low, and its largest holdings include BHP GROUP LTD, COMMONWEALTH BANK OF AUSTRALIA and DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD. With about 102 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 47.2%), your money is diversified rather than concentrated in a handful of names. Its biggest country exposures are ~63.6% Australia, ~14.6% Singapore and ~13.4% Hong Kong. Its heaviest sectors are ~44.5% Financials and ~15.8% Materials. Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.25% a year — about €25 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is automatically reinvested inside the fund (an accumulating share class), so returns compound without you doing anything. It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Luxembourg and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in USD. On the standard KID risk scale it is rated 6 out of 7 and its price has swung about 11.7% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2009. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Xtrackers.)

About this fund

What you own

The MSCI Pacific ex Japan Index index is the benchmark this fund aims to copy. By holding it, this fund gives you a stake in around 102 companies across Asia Pacific in a single purchase.

Dividends

The fund automatically reinvests dividends back into itself, so your holding grows without cash payouts.

Rolling the dividends straight back in means your money compounds automatically, with nothing for you to reinvest by hand. The flip side is there is no cash income; the growth simply shows up as a higher fund value. Note that reinvested dividends can still be taxable in some countries even though you never receive the cash — the rules depend on where you live.

How it works

The fund actually buys every share in the index it tracks (full replication).

Owning every holding keeps things transparent — what is in the index is what the fund actually owns. It can be a touch costlier to run for indexes with thousands of tiny positions, since the fund has to buy and maintain them all. There is no swap bank involved, so there is no extra “what if the partner fails” question to weigh.

Cost

0.25%Yearly fee (TER)
0.25%All-in cost

The yearly running cost of the fund, shown as a % of your money. €0.20 per €100 a year at 0.20%. Lower is cheaper.

It is skimmed quietly from inside the fund a little each day, so you never get a bill — but it drags on your return every year you hold. On a broad index ETF it is usually a small fraction of a percent; the gap between a cheap and a pricey fund looks tiny on day one but compounds over decades, which is why it is worth a glance.
