What this fund is

UBS MSCI EMU Socially Responsible UCITS ETF hCHF acc is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from UBS, traded under the ticker 0HDS (ISIN LU1273642816). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the MSCI EMU index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include ASML HOLDING NV, ING GROEP NV and SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC SE. By geography it is weighted towards ~19.1% France, ~14.4% Netherlands and ~4.3% Germany.

By industry it concentrates most in ~13.7% Technology and ~12.9% Financials. Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.23% a year — about €23 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is an accumulating share class: dividends are rolled straight back in, compounding your returns rather than landing in your account as cash. It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in Luxembourg and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in CHF.

Its price has swung about 15.1% over the past year, which describes how much its price tends to move rather than whether it is good. It launched in 2015. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from UBS.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
