What this fund is

Amundi Japan Topix UCITS ETF - DAILY HEDGED CHF (C) is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Amundi, traded under the ticker TPHC (ISIN LU1681038169). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the TOPIX Total Return Hedged Index in Swiss Franc index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include MITSUBISHI UFJ FINANCIAL GROUP, TOKYO ELECTRON JPY50 and TOYOTA MOTOR CORP. By geography it is weighted towards ~100% Japan.

Its heaviest sectors are ~25.2% Industrials and ~17.8% Financials. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.48% a year — about €48 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is automatically reinvested inside the fund (an accumulating share class), so returns compound without you doing anything. It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Luxembourg and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in CHF.

Its price has swung about 18.4% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2018. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Amundi.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
