What this fund is

Amundi MSCI Emerging Markets Swap UCITS ETF EUR Acc is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Amundi, traded under the ticker AEEM (ISIN LU1681045370). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the MSCI Emerging Markets Net Total Return USD Index index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include TAIWAN SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFAC, SAMSUNG ELECTRONIC CO LTD and SK HYNIX INC. Geographically it leans ~28.4% Taiwan, ~21.3% South Korea and ~19.5% China.

Its heaviest sectors are ~43.7% Information Technology and ~18.9% Financials. Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.2% a year — about €20 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. It is an accumulating share class: dividends are rolled straight back in, compounding your returns rather than landing in your account as cash. It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Luxembourg and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in EUR.

Its price has swung about 19.7% over the past year, which describes how much its price tends to move rather than whether it is good. It launched in 2018. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Amundi.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
