What this fund is

Amundi JPX-Nikkei 400 UCITS ETF - DAILY HEDGED CHF (C) is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Amundi, traded under the ticker JPHC (ISIN LU1681047665). In a single purchase you get a diversified basket of holdings rather than a stake in just one business. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It follows the JPX-Nikkei 400 Net Total Return Daily CHF Hedged Index index (passive investing): it tracks the market rather than relying on a manager, keeping running costs down, and its largest holdings include TOKYO ELECTRON JPY50, MURATA MANUFACT CO LTD JPY50 and SOFTBANK GROUP CORP. Its biggest country exposures are ~100% Japan.

By industry it concentrates most in ~25.6% Industrials and ~19.2% Information Technology. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.18% a year — about €18 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is automatically reinvested inside the fund (an accumulating share class), so returns compound without you doing anything. It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Luxembourg and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in CHF.

Its price has swung about 18.5% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2018. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from Amundi.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
