What this fund is

Amundi Core S&P 500 Swap UCITS ETF GBP Hedged Dist is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Amundi, traded under the ticker SP5G (ISIN LU1950341179). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It passively tracks the S&P 500 Daily Hedged GBP Index Net TR index — mirroring that market instead of paying a manager to pick winners, which keeps costs low, and its largest holdings include NVIDIA CORP, APPLE INC and MICROSOFT CORP. By geography it is weighted towards ~100% United States.

By industry it concentrates most in ~36.9% Information Technology and ~12.2% Financials. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.05% a year — about €5 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund. Income such as dividends is paid out to you as cash (a distributing share class), and over the last year it paid out roughly 0.92% (its trailing yield). It tracks its index through a swap agreement rather than owning every holding (synthetic replication); it is domiciled in Luxembourg and UCITS-regulated, a European standard built to protect everyday investors and trades in GBP.

Its price has swung about 12% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2019. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from Amundi.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
