What this fund is

State Street® SPDR® Dow Jones® Global Real Estate ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from SPDR, traded under the ticker RWO (ISIN US78463X7497). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. In plain terms it is about owning listed property companies (REITs), which earn rent from buildings and usually pass much of it on to investors, spread broadly across markets worldwide. It passively tracks the Dow Jones® Global Select Real Estate Securities IndexSM index — mirroring that market instead of paying a manager to pick winners, which keeps costs low, and its largest holdings include WELLTOWER INC, PROLOGIS INC and EQUINIX INC.

It holds around 244 positions (the ten largest ≈ 43.1%), spreading risk so no single holding decides your outcome. Its heaviest sectors are ~79.8% Real Estate and ~7% Corporate. It is typically held as a diversifier — a slice that behaves differently from mainstream shares — rather than as a portfolio's main engine. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.5% a year — about €50 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in the United States and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 13.1% over the past year — a gauge of how much the value moves, not a judgement of quality. It launched in 2008. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from SPDR.)

What your money could grow into

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
