What this fund is

State Street® SPDR® S&P® 1500 Momentum Tilt ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from SPDR, traded under the ticker MMTM (ISIN US78468R7052). One trade buys a whole basket of holdings, so your money is spread out instead of riding on a single company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the S&P 1500 Positive Momentum Tilt Index index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include NVIDIA CORP, APPLE INC and ALPHABET INC CL A.

With about 1472 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 40.6%), your money is diversified rather than concentrated in a handful of names. By industry it concentrates most in ~39.7% Technology and ~11.4% Communication Services. Investors often use a broad fund like this as a long-term 'core' holding — a single building block that covers much of a global portfolio in one trade. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.12% a year — about €12 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in the United States and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 14.8% over the past year, which describes how much its price tends to move rather than whether it is good. It launched in 2012. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from SPDR.)

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
