What this fund is

Vanguard Mega Cap Value ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Vanguard, traded under the ticker MGV (ISIN US9219108407). In a single purchase you get a diversified basket of holdings rather than a stake in just one business. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. It follows the Spliced Mega Cap Value Index index (passive investing): it tracks the market rather than relying on a manager, keeping running costs down, and its largest holdings include Micron Technology Inc., JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Class B.

With about 120 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 28.3%), your money is diversified rather than concentrated in a handful of names. Geographically it leans ~95.2% United States, ~3.9% Ireland and ~0.5% Switzerland. Its heaviest sectors are ~22.7% Financials and ~18% Technology. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.05% a year — about €5 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in the United States and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 10.2% over the past year, which describes how much its price tends to move rather than whether it is good. As with any investment, its value can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a guide to future results. (Fund data sourced from Vanguard.)

What your money could grow into

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

Using Vanguard Mega Cap Value ETF’s fee. The “assumed yearly return” is just an assumption you can change — not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
