What this fund is

Vanguard U.S. Momentum Factor ETF is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) from Vanguard, traded under the ticker VFMO (ISIN US9219355081). It lets you buy a basket of holdings in a single trade, spreading your money across them rather than one company. In plain terms it is about owning small slices of companies, so you share in their growth when they do well — and their falls when they don't, spread across its target market. Rather than a manager picking stocks, it simply replicates the Russell 3000 Index index — the passive, low-cost approach, and its largest holdings include GE Vernova LLC, Lam Research Corp. and Johnson & Johnson.

Spread across roughly 671 holdings (the ten largest ≈ 9.7%), no one position makes or breaks the fund. By geography it is weighted towards ~89.7% United States, ~1.6% Bermuda and ~1.1% Canada. Its heaviest sectors are ~24.1% Industrials and ~21.8% Health Care. It is commonly used to tilt a portfolio towards one market, usually alongside broader, more global funds rather than on its own. Its ongoing charge (TER) is 0.13% a year — about €13 a year on a €10,000 holding, taken automatically from the fund.

It holds the underlying investments directly (physical replication); it is domiciled in the United States and trades in USD. Its price has swung about 22.9% over the past year, which describes how much its price tends to move rather than whether it is good. Like any investment, it can lose value as well as gain, and what it did before does not predict what it will do next. (Fund data sourced from Vanguard.)

Pick a monthly amount and a number of years to see how regular investing can add up over time. These are your own assumptions — an illustration, not a prediction.

How this works: an educational scenario, not a forecast. We compound monthly and add your monthly amount each month. “Expected annual return” is your own assumption — pick a cautious one; real markets are bumpy and can fall. “Adjust for inflation” simply restates the result in today’s spending power. The fee figure includes the yearly fund fee (TER) and the growth those fees would otherwise have earned. The fund comparison repeats each fund’s last-12-months return every year — a rough illustration only, which real funds never do. Not advice.
